The fight for a livable future has never been more urgent. The climate crisis is accelerating—2024 saw global temperatures breach the 1.5°C threshold, and the Gulf Stream faces imminent collapse. Meanwhile, governments and corporations cling to business as usual, driving us closer to the brink.
ReGeneration 2030 is a youth-led force for systemic change in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region. Our Plan for 2025 is our action-driven battle map, rooted in our three-year strategy to build youth power, sharpen tools, and challenge the systems driving climate collapse. Created collectively by working groups, the Secretariat, and the Board, it reflects our movement’s diversity and shared purpose.
The climate crisis is here. And we are ready. Let’s make 2025 a year of defiance, action, and transformation.
Aim 1: Build Solidarity Across Borders Between Environmental Youth Groups
Our region is home to strong local youth movements and organisations for sustainability. Together, we constitute one of the strongest forces pressuring governments and wider society to build a sustainable system. However, many of these groups are new, small, and operating purely on the grassroots level. By uniting these groups together, we can learn from each other, sharpen our skills, and elevate our demands onto a collective platform to advocate for change at the highest levels.
In 2025, our Catalysts for Change program will invite twenty-five youth from a diverse range of backgrounds all over our region into our organisation and into the youth environmental movement more widely. Then, ReGeneration Week will unite a further 100 youth from diverse struggles and movements to learn from each other and elevate our collective demands for change. Throughout the year, we’ll hold four Core Partner Meetings packed with organisers from across the region - from Finnish eco-defenders to Estonian climate strikers to Swedish direct action groups. By the end of 2025, we aim to be a central gathering point for a wide range of active youth and environmental groups across our region.

Aim 2: Sharpen Youth Skills and Knowledge for Sustainable System Change
We, the youth, are inspired by generations of youth before us. We know that young people all over the world have used grassroots action and participation in democratic processes to achieve inspirational system change; from achieving an 8-hour working day in Germany in the 1900s to bringing down discriminatory labour laws in Bangladesh in the 2020s. We believe that youth today can spark a just sustainable transformation process.
Therefore in 2025, our mission isn't just to educate - it's to build a fighting force capable of transforming the system. We will run our Catalysts for Change programme, ReGeneration Week summit, and year-round volunteer training work, we aim to skill up individual youth, as well as movements and organisations, to focus on system change and act more effectively in the coming years. This isn't about working within the system - it's about building the power to transform it. The climate crisis demands nothing less.

Aim 3: Advocate for Sustainable System Change
We know what’s causing the crisis around us: our current system pits powerful actors (such as corporations in pollution-heavy sectors) against necessary change. Many of our leaders are still in the grip of fairytales like infinite economic growth and ever-rising profits from which we will have to shake them awake. And there are possibilities to build a brighter world for all on the horizon, but we need to muster the courage to go there. In the face of life-threatening delays and distractions, we will cut through the greenwashing and push for the most important changes we need to see to change this system. Halting fossil fuel extraction, making our economies prioritise people and planet over profit, and protecting biodiverse ecosystems.
By taking the youth voice directly to power-holders at meetings and events, we will hold leaders to account, motivate them to act, and ensure that those with the most at stake - our generation - are involved in actively shaping policies for a just sustainable future. By using our position in platforms like the European Union Stakeholders group and the United Nations Environmental Programme, we will elevate the Nordic and Baltic Sea youth voice to be heard directly in these influential bodies. We will also continue using our social media and newsletters to lift system-changing movements up and build solidarity between youth and environmental groups across our region and in the world beyond.
