The board will be elected at the ReGeneration Week (9-13 August 2024) on Monday 12 August. We recommend that candidates should be between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of election and interested in the region. The term of a board member is two years (2024-2026)
Note that you can also apply to be an observer to the board of the ReGeneration 2030 Foundation if you are 15-35 years old. The term of an observer is one year (2024-2025).
Board members
The board is at the strategic heart of the organisation. The primary responsibility of the board and its members is to ensure that the activities are conducted in accordance with the organisation’s purpose. The board's ongoing, annual areas of responsibility include:
Making organisational decisions while participating in monthly board meetings
Supervising the Secretary-General (via the Chairperson of the Board)
Establishing a budget and annual plan
Electing auditors, approving the annual report and financial statements
Making strategic decisions such as launching new projects and establishing partnerships
Making key organisational decisions about the Summit (now called the ReGeneration Week)
The board members are expected to focus on the foundation's strategic functioning, however, some operational work tasks come with the position.
As a board member, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to the foundation. Aside from the mentioned responsibilities, the board members are also encouraged to represent the organisation in various events and participate and/or lead the work of working groups.
The board member is elected for a two-year term, 2 board members will be elected for the 2024-2026 term (edited on 05/08/2024).
Observers
People aged 15-35 have the right to participate in the work of the board as observers with the right to express an opinion and make proposals, but without the right to make decisions. Observers are not included in the formal board composition.
Observers are also encouraged to represent the organisation in various events and participate and/or lead the work of working groups.
Observers serve as advisors, offering their expertise and perspective on various issues discussed during board meetings. Your contributions can help shape discussions and guide the board in making informed decisions.
In this role, you will engage in continuous learning about the foundation's programs, strategies, and impact. Your observations and feedback can contribute to the ongoing improvement of the foundation's governance and operations.
The observers are elected for a one-year term. 3 observers will be elected for the 2024-2025 term.
If you meet this requirement, are committed to sustainability, passionate about shaping a strong youth movement and able to think strategically consider applying and joining ReGeneration 2030. Previous board experience, knowledge of how NGOs operate, and/or experience of being in a social movement is beneficial but not mandatory.
